Our Work with Parents

At Mares Cares, our specialized group parenting classes are designed to support parents in fostering a stable and supportive home environment.. We provide two separate tracks to help serve your unique needs and hopes for outcomes.

We offer two unique courses:

Active Parenting - Are you navigating the challenges of parenting while involved with Child Protective Services (CPS), probation, court orders, or custody cases? Our program is tailored to assist you through the reunification process and other legal requirements by providing essential skills and knowledge. In our group sessions, you will learn effective communication techniques, emotion regulation strategies, and the intricacies of co-parenting with both biological and foster parents. Additionally, we provide comprehensive information about CPS processes, probation requirements, as well as court expectations, to help you understand and meet all necessary obligations. This is a 10 week course which meets approximately two hours per week. There are typically 5-10 individuals per group.

In-Depth Parenting: This course focuses on topics that are beneficial to every parent and include:

  • Emotion regulation

  • Distress tolerance

  • Child development

  • Effective communication

  • Warning signs for you and your family (i.e. spotting depression and other common issues)

  • And much more!

Join us to gain the tools and support you need to create a nurturing and less stressful environment for your family and work toward success with your children. This course is approximately 10 hours over 5-8 weeks and adaptable to individuals’ needs.

Both of these courses meet at the Delano location and are led by Talia Salyer.
